Welcome!

Another blog? That’s probably what most people think when stumbling across a new blog or even what the writer thinks before they start their blog.

That would be me. As a journalism major almost 40 years ago I guess I thought I was going to be writing my whole life, but as things happen, I never really got to use that journalism degree. I mean what does a 21 year old know anyway? Graduating in the 80’s with a PR degree, jobs were few and far between and I probably didn’t even have the right focus (OH IF ONLY WE KNEW THEN WHAT WE KNOW NOW) and I wanted “read adult life” to start immediately. So instead of staying on that path that was supposedly set with that B. S. degree in hand, I found a job in customer service, that led to a career in sales with a fantastic company and as they say, the rest is history. No press releases or magazine articles were ever written but my skills allowed me to craft an amazing presentation, send a great email and I never missed a chance to contribute to (or even edit) a company newsletter. And of course no matter where I went, I could be counted on to be the “grammar police”. So mom and dad, all that education and money was not for nothing!

Hitting 60 last year in this crazy pandemic robbed me of the blowout I had planned to have but it has also has given many of us who have been fortunate enough to have jobs, plenty of food on the table and a healthy family, time to reflect on what is important and of course lots of time to spend looking at Pinterest, reading and re-evaluating our lives. The idea for this blog has come from that time of self-reflection. I wanted to write and I’ve also realized it is never too late to be great. Meaning, no reason I can’t start a blog. No reason I can’t still learn new things and this isolating time has allowed me to do some of those things and I have more to do. So I wanted to have a place to share my and others’ experiences, and it really won’t matter what someone’s age is. You’ll likely not find me bungee jumping or joining the Peace Corp (I know…they wouldn’t take me anyway) but more every day lifestyle discoveries. And the hope if there is one small thing you can take away, I will feel I have accomplished something. No, wait. Just writing will be my accomplishment….because you are never too old to learn or experience something new! #itisnevertolatetobegreat #learnnewthings
